TheraTex Kimono

TheraTex Kimono

Forschungsprojekt TheraTex, DXM–kunsthochschule weißensee berlin, 2022

The TheraTex Kimono was developed within the framework of the research project TheraTex, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Currently, individuals with hemiparesis engage in rather monotonous therapy exercises, often obligated to perform them in the presence of therapists. These conditions may result in diminished motivation, necessitating daily guidance and reminders for therapy adherence. The Kimono represents a form of Motion Capture Suit designed with a focus on user-centric aesthetics, interaction, and usability. This design facilitates location-independent and innovative therapeutic methods.

The developmental process involved the clarification of user requirements through patient interviews, the formulation of the electronic and textile foundation, the modular integration of sensors, and the comprehensive documentation of the undertaken efforts.
