Collaborative CAD Modeling for Spross Sculpture: An interactive CAD model, developed for artist Elisabeth Howey, shaped the Spross sculpture’s form and structure. Photorealistic renderings were generated on-site, aiding the iterative evaluation of the sculpture and visualizing its appearance in the intended environment, informing potential adjustments. Derived from the model, component data was compiled to facilitate the technical implementation of the sculpture. This involved meticulous planning and fabrication of individual components, ensuring precision in realizing the artistic vision.
The Spross sculpture, situated at the junction of High-Tech Park Jena Göschwitz and the Saale River recreational park, blends plant-inspired forms with mechanical design. It showcases advanced bending technology, infusing the stainless steel tubes with a poetic quality through deformation. Despite the title implying a small shoot, the 7-meter-tall sculpture transcends human scale, inviting contemplation on the interplay between humanity and nature within the artistic realm.
