research project TheraTex, DXM–kunsthochschule weißensee berlin, 2023
partners: Textile prototyping Lab
This prototype was developed within the framework of the research project TheraTex, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Individuals suffering from hemiparesis often lose connection with their affected body half. Self-touching the paralyzed areas can aid the body in rebuilding the connection to the affected side. The garment woven by TPL incorporates sensory, textile contact surfaces. Upon touch, the integrated light guide changes its state. Alongside an woven pattern, the user is encouraged to touch and stroke their arm.
Developing the interaction concept, incorporating the light components, integrating touch-sensitive sensors into the textile, and programming the electronics while designing the user experience.
